At Haller Piano & Theory Studio, we believe that excellence in
the art of music is achieved through the process
of music in which the performer, listener, and music are central
to the entire musical experience. Instruction in music theory
equips students with the ability to set that process in motion.
Students acquire interpretive skills that involve perception,
comprehension, memory, attention, performance, composition, and
improvisation – skills needed to engage and involve listeners in
the entire musical experience. |

In addition to affecting music excellence, knowledge of music
theory acquired at an early age prepares students well in
advance for secondary music education (two years of music theory
are currently required of all college musicians). Theory
fundamentals taught at Haller Piano & Theory Studio include
pitch, scales, rhythm and meter, key signatures, intervals,
chords, and form. Theory lessons are offered as a concentration
for individual students or student groups (theory is
automatically incorporated in piano students’ lesson plans).
